ZRA Customs have now formalized the procedure for Importers and Exporters to appoint their approved Customs Agents. Historically this could be done by way of notification letter to ZRA, but the system still had flaws in enforcing compliance.
Now, Taxpayers can log in to their Customs Portal, and select their appointed agent from a list of approved, Customs licensed agents.
Taxpayers can select up to 5 approved agents. This facilitates options perhaps when using different port of entries, or in situations where any particular agent is unable to transact at a point in time.
